Site Selection and

Fisheries Management
and Sustainability
Fisheries management and sustainability services are crucial components of NiMa’s expertise. Our team is dedicated to providing comprehensive solutions to ensure the long-term health and productivity of marine fisheries. We assist in the development of Fishery Management Plans and implementation of Action Plans to support Fisheries Improvement Projects. Our services include:
- Provision of impartial and objective advice and guidance
- Consultation and facilitation through a wide network of stakeholders, including fisheries representatives, fishing communities, government agencies, and conservation organisations
- Sophisticated data analysis techniques and close monitoring of fisheries data sources
Consenting Advice and
Environmental Impact
Assessment
NiMa have extensive experience in supporting clients through the consenting phase of their projects in marine and coastal environments. We provide this service across a number of sectors, including offshore wind, marine renewables, subsea cables, carbon capture and storage and aquaculture. Our services include:
- Coordinating consenting of projects, often working in a seconded role as consents lead, embedded in a client team
- Providing commercial fisheries EIA services, delivering EIA reporting from scoping stage through to examination/hearing and consent determination and undertaking associated stakeholder engagement
- Increasingly and where relevant, provision of draft fisheries-related Consent Plans to support consent applications
Post-Consent
Compliance Advice
NiMa supports clients in post-consent regulatory compliance and in the delivery of environmental monitoring commitments. We have provided these services to a number of UK offshore wind farm projects that are currently in construction or operational:
- Acting as Environmental Clerk of Works pre- and during construction, undertaking compliance monitoring and reporting, and raising environmental awareness across project teams
- Preparing Consent Plans required to discharge consent conditions, including Fisheries Liaison and Coexistence Plans / Fisheries Management and Mitigation Strategies
- Designing and delivering pre-, during and post-construction environmental monitoring programmes, focused on commercial fisheries
Marine Policy
and Strategy
NiMa offer policy and strategic advice to a range of regulatory bodies, statutory advisors and non-governmental organisations focusing on offshore energy, commercial fisheries and in some instances the interaction between those sectors. NiMa’s experience includes projects carried out for Crown Estate Scotland, local authorities, and government. Our services include:
