With a commitment to supporting the sustainable presence of both industries, our team offer support through all stages of the development of offshore renewables projects, with a focus on the provision of consenting and compliance advice, and to the fishing industry in the preparation and delivery of management plans and certification schemes. The NiMa team has provided consultancy support to a large number of projects in the UK and Europe, working with offshore wind developers, regulators and government departments, non-governmental organisations, the fishing industry and certification bodies.
Director and founder of NiMa, Fiona possesses extensive experience in marine fisheries and aquaculture consulting, spanning over 17 years. With a background in chemical engineering and marine biology, she specialises in assessing the impact of offshore renewable energy on marine environmental sustainability. Fiona is recognized as an expert in Principle 2 (ecosystem) and serves as an assessor for the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification scheme, including Fishery Improvement Projects for shellfish species in the UK.
Fiona takes the lead in evaluating the effects of offshore wind and wet renewable energy developments, specifically conducting assessments for commercial fisheries. Currently, she is actively involved in offshore renewables projects in the North Sea, Irish Sea, and West of Scotland.

Nikki Copeland
Nikki has over eleven years of offshore wind consenting experience, having held key positions within offshore development teams of leading renewable energy developers in the UK and Ireland. She has experience throughout the development phase, from leasing processes to pre- and post-consent development.Â
With a legal background, Nikki specialises in consenting advice, compliance with regulatory requirements, strategy development, EIA and consent application management, and policy analysis, for both onshore and offshore elements of project development.
Drawing on her developer experience, Nikki approaches the consents management process holistically and within the context of the wider project strategy, recognising the interplay between technical, commercial and overall strategic objectives.
